This Guy Got Hit By the Delhi Metro at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station and Lost His Life.
“Kripya Peeli Rekha Ke Peeche Khade Ho”, “Please Stand Behind the yellow line”. We hear these announcements on a regular basis and tend to ignore them.
What is the rush, no really, why to hurry every time! Nothing will happen if you miss one metro and board the other one. Nothing will happen if you let the people deboard the train first.
This rush and hurry costed him way more than just time for Amit Talwar on Thursday, September 8th. This 34-year-old guy was waiting for the metro impatiently and somehow he failed to realize that he was close to the tracks, which resulted in the tragic accident where he lost his life.
Witnesses say that Amit was thrown about 15 feet away and got hit by one of the metal barricades which were installed to keep the crowd away from the tracks.
“CCTV footage shows him entering the station at 8.41 am after buying a token,” said a CISF officer. “In the footage, he can be seen on Platform 2 near the tunnel where the train enters the station. Because he is leaning beyond the yellow line on the crowded peak-hour platform, his head is hit by a train. It seems he had little time to react when the train rushed in.”
According to the guard who witnessed the accident, “The man was hit with such force by the train that he was flung at the girl, who also fell near the barricade.”
He also told “I was standing about two coaches away from the spot. On hearing a loud thud and screams of people, I rushed to the area and found the man lying in a pool of blood. The train services had to be stopped for around 10 minutes to find out if others were affected. There was so much blood on the platform that the area had to be cordoned off and washed before reopening it for use. Had the man been standing behind the yellow line as cautioned, he would have been safe.”
It’s high time we realize the importance of “Why we need to stand behind that yellow line”!
