When my 6-year-old daughter asked me about terrorist attacks
It’s been around more than 50 hours and Pampore attacks don’t seem to have a full stop.
Terrorists hiding in the EDI building have exchanged a lot of gunfires now. Over 50 rockets, machines guns and hundreds of grenades have been used against the terrorists. In this act, one terrorist is killed and it is believed that there are two more terrorists inside the building.
First, Uriattacks then Baramula and now Pampore!
Where are we leading with this kind of present? Attacks, gunshots, explosions is this is what we are left with to talk about?
What to tell a child who is merely 6 years about terrorism? What should one tell that little child who is way too innocent to understand this?
I was shocked and got lost on words when my 6-year-old at night asked me about the attacks and terrorists and terrorism. I just looked at my husband with a blank expression. It was my husband who took her in his arms and said “When bad people with some bad intentions attack then these attacks are called terrorist attacks.” And then, he explained that little girl about every attack and many more things.
I am not shocked about my husband telling her about the attacks and everything, all I am worried about is the kind of future we are shaping for her and many other little ones like her!
When will this all stop?
Will it ever have an end?
