When brand name overshadows the product
How many times has it happened that you visit a friend’s place, and the first thing s/he does after greeting you is to ask you, ‘Chai chalegi ya Pepsi’? Whether or not s/he has actually got a bottle of Pepsi in the refrigerator, or a Coke is entirely irrelevant. Isn’t it funny, how a lady goes to the grocery store and only asks for Surf, pays for it and goes back home with whatever the shopkeeper gives her, irrespective of whether it’s a Wheel, Tide or even a Ujala.
Brand recall for his product is something each and every marketer in the world strives for, and blessed are those who manage to replace the product’s name with the name of their brand in the memory of the end-consumer.
