WEED IS BETTER THAN ALCOHOL. HERE’S THE PROOF…
If you are one of those who believes everything that the government or the anti-drug campaigners say, you would know that one puff on a joint will turn you into an insane, slavering wreck, more of a monster who would eventually go home and kill his/ her entire family in a fit of rage over money for drugs. Right?
Well, let me tall you something. It’s BULLSHIT! There has been no substantial evidence to link marijuana with domestic violence, traffic accident, aggressive behavior, or cancer. Yet, pot is illegal and is listed as a Schedule-1 controlled substance by the USDEA and by similar agencies around the world. Alcohol on the other hand, which has been proven time and again to be responsible for a number of societal ills including domestic violence and traffic accidents, continues to remain perfectly legal to possess and consume after a certain age, with governments merrily minting moolahs in taxes on its sale.
According to a top of the line findings of a recent research published in the journal Scientific Reports, a subsidiary of Nature, marijuana may be even safer than previously thought when compared with other recreational drugs including alcohol. They also found that at the level of individual use, alcohol was the deadliest substance followed by heroin and cocaine, with marijuana being the least risky, sitting comfortably down at the very bottom. Putting it into plain numbers for you, alcohol is 114 times deadlier than marijuana. There, that is something you now know.
Let’s go corporate with the study, and give you some facts (both, scientific and otherwise) that will prove that pot is far less dangerous than alcohol. So, here goes…
1) NO HANGOVER:
Don’t you just hate those next mornings, with a splitting headache, unquenchable thirst, and nauseating feeling? I know, I do. Good news, pot doesn’t give you a hangover.
2) LIVER FRIENDLY:
Unlike alcohol that is proven to be one of the deadliest enemies of your dear liver, marijuana is believed to be helpful in fighting liver diseases like liver fibrosis and cancer.
3) NOT ADDICTIVE:
Alcohol, the scientists say, is the most addictive substance known to man, followed by nicotine. Just to put into perspective, coffee is proven to be more addictive than weed. Need we say more?
4) ALCOHOL KILLS:
According to a study done by the World Health Organization, alcohol kills, on an average, around 2.5 million people annually worldwide. Guess how many is marijuana reported to having killed so far. That’s right, none.
5) NON-VIOLENCE IS GOOD:
The fact that an alcoholic has a tendency to turn violent at the slightest provocation is well known. A weeder on the other hand, turns mellow, calm, quite and at peace with himself and the world. Which one would you prefer? Thought so!
6) MEDICINAL VALUE:
A lot of research is being done on the medicinal value of marijuana lately. Historically too it is known to have been used, albeit palliatively, to treat a number of diseases ranging from cancer to epilepsy, from multiple sclerosis to PTSD, from Hep-C to Crohn’s disease, and from Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s. Hell, it even works wonders on the common pain. How many diseases does alcohol cure?
7) STIMULATES CREATIVITY:
We could give you a mile-long list of creative people like singer, writers, graphic artists, who have admitted to having done their best work when high, but that would be naming. OK, here are a few…Bob Marley, Rihanna and Lady Gaga. How about that? Medically, weed is known to stimulate neurogenesis in the hippocampus, turning the mind more focused and sharp.
8) BETTER FOOD, BETTER SEX:
Yes, as usual, we have saved the best for the last. Cannabis is known to stimulate the brain’s olfactory center- which alcohol has been proven to subside- enhancing the taste and smell function, thus making the food more enjoyable. Coming on to the next part, studies have proven that weed considerably enhances sex. Alcohol, in comparison, is known to eventually decrease the sex drive in both men and women. Wanna take that risk?
Having said all that, we must emphasize that safer than alcohol, does not necessarily mean safe, period. Both, alcohol and cannabis are after all, recreational drugs used to alter the way your brain and body reacts. For example, like any other such drug, weed can also impair your sense of balance and coordination, thereby increasing your chances of hurting yourself or others. This article is only to help you make an informed choice between the two, if you must.
