This new French law makes it illegal to contact the employees after work hours!
“Right To Disconnect” a new French law mandates that a company with 50 employees or more than that cannot contact/ email employee after work hours.
Yes, we can completely understand how it feels when you are partying with your family or friends and you get a work related e-mail.
A study reveals that when you are not fully disconnected from your work it somehow affects your mental health. And now to reduce all these sorts of possibilities a new law has been passed that makes it illegal for an employer to email employees after working hours.
BBC News reports, “The right to disconnect” law will make it compulsory for the companies to not connect with any of the employees regarding work after the typical work hours.
Benoit Hamon of the French National Assembly said,
“All the studies show there is far more work-related stress today than there used to be, and that the stress is constant. Employees physically leave the office, but they do not leave their work. They remain attached by a kind of electronic leash— like a dog. The texts, the messages, the emails — they colonize the life of the individual to the point where he or she eventually breaks down.”
Don’t you think we also need a law like this?
