Here Are The Things Which Make You A Crazy Urban 20 Something
The lifestyle of 20 somethings right now is a subject of great criticism and wonderment for those who preceded us. Especially, if you are someone living independently in a rented flat, barely surviving on the peanuts paid by an exploitative employee, the next revolution in the art of living will be brought about by you. As much as we are criticised by those who preceded our generation, we are a jealousy-inducing source for many who are still unable to unleash the craziness of their character.
We discovered the whole new world when our bank accounts became strong enough to afford the bare minimum. A newly found freedom in abundance gave us an opportunity to experiment and exercise all that we ever wanted, be it our social life, food, relationships, etc. We are a little torn trying to make the best out of what makes sense to us; whether it is staying up all night and showing up like a zombie in office the next day, or to spend the month’s budget on an impromptu trip to a far off land.
Take pride or take a call but this how we, millennial, roll in the 21st century. Here are the things that make us who we are in the demographically displaced situation of a young, wild, and free adults:
1. We Don’t Sleep
We are not surprised that this point made to the first place. The struggle to push through the entire day on the terms of our capitalist lords leaves an unquenchable thirst to take the charge. Thus begins the endless talks, music, and movies till 3am-4am in the morning.
2. Scrolling is the new work-out regime
We like to get intense, moving the index finger with the speed of light to consume all that the Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. feeds have to offer. The frequency of information added on these platforms doesn’t let a moment of boredom attack us. Hence tossing away our appetite, sleep, and discipline.
3. Bong, OCB, Malana
If you like to spend the evenings rolling to perfection, then you are not alone. The self-aware generation doesn’t scare away from heightened consciousness. We bond over joints, we cry over joints, we smile over joints.
4. Munchies are the New BFF
With the advent of a number of late night food deliveries, all of us are self-proclaimed foodies. Continental, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, etc. we are spoilt for choices. The weekly vegetable market is for the oldies, we like to click on food.
5. Weekends with Bae & Chill
Live-in relationships still raise many brows but we have found a way out to balance things out. The society might not be ready to see an unmarried couple living together but 2 innocent days spent don’t make anyone frown really. Not only we escape the judgmental eyes of neighbours and shopkeepers, but also don’t lose much from our personal freedom.
